With AvEn (Available Energy), its newly launched battery analytics feature for confident dispatch in utility-scale storage, the Dresden-based pioneer is nominated alongside global players including Sungrow, Trina Storage and CRRC.
Dresden / Munich, June 4, 2026 — volytica diagnostics has been named one of ten finalists for The smarter E AWARD 2026 in the Energy Storage category. The expert panel nominated the company for AvEn (Available Energy). This newly launched feature quantifies the actually available energy in utility-scale battery storage in real time.
Consequently, this vendor-independent metric enables operators to bid confidently in energy trading and grid services. As a result, they can avoid both costly non-delivery penalties and lost revenue. Winners will be announced on June 22, 2026, at ees Europe in Munich.

Cell imbalances and conservative limits set by the battery management system (BMS) often leave a significant share of the true usable available energy unused in utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) – up to 10% in some cases. This affects especially lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. Their voltage barely changes throughout the charge range, which makes state-of-charge estimation inherently uncertain, even for the most advanced BMS.
Unfortunately, the resulting loss in revenue and exposure to non-delivery penalties can cost operators tens of thousands of euros per week. In one analyzed 200 MWh LFP asset, AvEn identified an untapped revenue potential of approximately €10,000 per week. AvEn replaces these guesstimated buffers with a data-driven, high-frequency signal that integrates directly into existing trading and dispatch systems.

“From the very beginning, our approach has been to highlight the enormous economic value of understanding batteries deeply. Being recognized alongside industry giants like Sungrow, Trina Storage and CRRC shows us that this message has reached the market. This success belongs to our entire team – the battery experts, data scientists and software engineers who built AvEn in close cooperation with our clients,” said Claudius Jehle, CEO and Co-Founder of volytica diagnostics.

According to the IEA Global Energy Review 2026, the global energy storage market grew by more than 40% in 2025. With storage markets expanding rapidly worldwide, operators increasingly depend on interconnected software ecosystems. Consequently, different platforms must seamlessly interact. “Energy management systems (EMS), SCADA, asset performance management (APM), trading platforms and OEM monitoring need to orchestrate and exchange data seamlessly. We are the missing puzzle piece that provides the interfaces between all of them,” said Jehle.

Visitors will gain insights into the AvEn dashboard and see how the software visualizes available energy in real time while delivering high-frequency data via API to trading and dispatch systems.
Furthermore, volytica will showcase its comprehensive battery analytics software and latest use cases for utility-scale BESS and e-mobility fleets.
